As ever, Rameau's scoring is ravishing, and William Christie and his Les Arts Florissants never let us lose sight of its unique flavor. The playing and Erato's recording are just about ideal: the instruments and voices are perfectly balanced and crystal clear, and the depth and special effects called for give us a theatrical perspective.
