Album Summary
Conductor Ensembles ComposerNotes & Reviews:
Born in Namur in today's Wallonie, Arcadelt celebrated successes during his lifetime above all with secular music and today is regarded as one of the founders of the Italian madrigal. It is little known, however, that he invested a significant amount of his creative energy in sacred music and did so as a singer-composer in the Cappella Sistina.
American Record Guide, March / April 2013
Both are excellent interpretations and worthy to be in any serious collection of renaissance polyphony. Along with excellent notes, texts, and translations, this release offers a significant sonic document that I hope will stimulate further recordings of Arcadelt's music.
