Notes & Reviews:

This album features many extraordinary performances of 19th Century repertoire, but it also provides a glimpse of Schuricht's advocacy of 20th century composers such as Borish Blacher and Gunter Raphael. A bonus disc featuring Schuricht in rehearsal rounds out this second portrait of one of the 20th century's greatest conductors.

There's no question that if you admire Schuricht then you will be intrigued to hear those performances that stand as an appendix to his Parisian cycle of the Beethoven symphonies...This may be a specialist box but it continues the fine archival work that Hänssler is carrying out on behalf of the conductor.

American Record Guide, September/October 2013
A Schuricht performance would have clear textures, rhythmic energy, beautiful orchestral colors, and flowing tempos. This is a fine tribute to an extraordinary conductor. I hope that more labels will find more Schuricht releases to give to us.
