Bond, James Bond
This is hardly a novel concept. There are many collections of Bond main titles arranged for orchestra, good and not so good. This generous assemblage is very good. The playing of the Philharmonia, an outfit with a long tradition of recording film music, is topnotch. Where the music calls out for some swing and bounce, the players deliver effortlessly. The absence of vocals is usually a deal breaker. With arrangements this skilled, it can be overlooked. Toss in nice solo turns by Pavel Sporcil (violin) and Buy Barker (trumpet), the result is a well served up light tuneful program, very well recorded.
