Notes & Reviews:

A relatively small but significant part of his output, John Ireland's choral music has been neglected in comparison to his songs and instrumental music. This is Volume 1 of 3 the complete choral music.

BBC Music Magazine, January 2013
Here's an excellent idea: a whole CD of John Ireland's church music, which tends to be scattered piecemeal in anthologies. The impression it makes is very positive...the tutti singing is convincingly uninhibited.

Gramophone Magazine, January 2013
Excellent performances, with impeccable blend and ensemble. The balance between the lower and upper voices is ideal, and the overall sound is crowned by bright-toned trebles. There are some accomplished solo choristers and it's refreshing to hear the choir's gentlemen singing without the operatic tone heard in other cathedral choirs.

American Record Guide, May/June 2013
The Lincoln Cathedral Choir is a very good ensemble that holds its own against most other provincial English cathedral ensembles. In keeping with current trends, its 40 treble choristers are both boys and girls, all students at the choir school. Together with the men's voices, they offer sweet, and admirable technical proficiency. The booklet contains useful notes as well as full texts. Considering how often Ireland's better-known sacred pieces are heard in Anglican churches worldwide, this unique survey should interest every serious English sacred choral fan.

MusicWeb International, 3rd October 2013
Throughout this programme the Lincoln Cathedral choir is on top form and I enjoyed their singing very much...The music is rewarding and enjoyable and it's been splendidly served by the musicians of Lincoln Cathedral.
