Notes & Reviews:

Combining communicative performances with engaging programming, this release is dedicated to Schumann's music for cello and piano - works that were written after a period devoted almost exclusively to the piano, and whose aim it was to extend musical knowledge and practice.

American Record Guide, May/June 2013
Martin Ostertag played the Bach Suite 3 with Kalle Randalu on MDG 3041648 in much livelier tempos. The Violin Sonata, Opus 105 has been transcribed by Jan Willem Nelleke and recorded by him with cellist Karine Georgian, also in livelier tempos and a generally higher register and by Daniel Muller-Schott, recorded with pianist Robert Kulek, likewise faster and with greater care for register changes. Of these three renditions of the sonata, I find Muller-Schott by far the most convincing, though all are well played. Muller- Schott has the best transcription and plays with the most conviction.
