Notes & Reviews:

On his Oehms Classics debut, pianist Herbert Schuch performs Viktor Ullmann's Piano Concerto supplemented by Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3. Ullmann's Piano Concerto was composed in 1939 and 1940, during an extremely difficult period prior to his deportation to Theresienstadt in 1942.

American Record Guide, May/June 2013
This concerto appeals to me; and others drawn to such early-modern Germanic composers as Toch, Eisler, and Weill will likely respond to it. Herbert Schuch and the WDR Symphony under Olari Elts play Ullmann with sympathy and polish and get Oehms's typically superb recorded sound. The new Oehms offers only Ullmann's concerto, filling up the disc with a redundant reading of Beethoven.
