Listeners who enjoy the Mozart flute concertos will undoubtedly enjoy these as well... Like Mozart's, Graf's concertos are brilliant and melodic, with exciting tutti sections, lyrical middle movements, and concluding movements that are relatively short, brisk and playfu. They are also harmonically rich and instilled with a Mozartian elegance. ... ... read more ...

Graf is as little-known today as he was immensely popular in his lifetime, when he enjoyed great esteem as a virtuoso flautist and composer. His works, whether printed or (as most often happened) in manuscript, were disseminated far and wide. The 4 flute concertos on this recording are marvelously entertaining additions to early classical repertoire.

American Record Guide, May/June 2013
Gaby Pas-Van Riet is a modern flute player and this is a modern orchestra. She has a singing sound and there are some lovely moments when she swells or pushes it. Also superlative is the clarity of the rapid articulated notes she plays in some movements (C major III). The strings use vibrato and the orchestra includes horns and, in one case, oboes. The balances are - like the playing - delightful. If you get this release, add it to Andras Adorjan's outstanding Devienne recordings on Tudor. He and Graf are among the best the classical era has to offer the flute and deserve a much wider audience.
