Allan Pettersson grew up in Stockholm under harsh conditions and got his diploma in violin and viola and ended up in the Stocholm concert ensemble where he stayed until 1951, stopped only by a rheumatic disease. The Six songs are from his early stage as he began composing at the age of 24. The barefoot songs was composed in the early 1940 and influenced a lot of his compositions, consisting of 16 symphonies, several concertos and choral work.
