Notes & Reviews:

This recording, which celebrates the acclaimed conductor Kurt Masur's 85th birthday, was recorded live at the Smolarz Auditorium at Tel Aviv University. The program, performed here by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of one of the great Beethoven conductors of our time, includes the rarely recorded complete incidental music to Egmont, Beethoven's homage to a 16th century hero who fought against oppression. Masur's chosen pairing is the sublime Symphony No.7.

American Record Guide, July/August 2013
Masur's disc shares the Seventh, performed here in a 2012 concert in Tel Aviv. As you would expect, it is more conventional and indeed sounds like a very good job. The performances are certainly fine.
