Notes & Reviews:

We now at long last are continuing our Brahms song edition with the two CDs of Vol. 10. The focus is formed by his Deutsche Volkslieder for voice and piano - works representing not only his most extensive collection of folk-song arrangements but also his most outstanding one.

American Record Guide, May/June 2013
Schmidt and Vermillion sing the entire program which is sung by Banse, who was the primary singer with Schmidt in most of the other volumes. What Banse sings here she sings very well. Schmidt's performances in the previous volumes, and here they are outstanding as well. Schmidt does everything right, and his warm is most pleasing. Vermillion was heard in volumes 7 and 9 and Paul Althouse liked her rich mezzo sound in the Gypsy Songs of Volume 9. She approaches each song with intelligence and just the right affect, bringing to them a wide range of apt vocal shading. Their voices complement each other well in the dialog songs. Deutsch remains the superb accompanist he has been for the entire series.
