American Record Guide, May/June 2013
These recordings are fine demonstrations of Fiorentino's technique and interpretive stature. Fiorentino proves with the opening Years of Pilgrimage that he has a vital touch, conveying a Liszt that extends beyond all technical virtuosity into the realms of profound revelations. The piano sonata is the crowning achievement in this release. Deeply moving, it is the best interpretation that I have heard in a long time. With utmost clarity, he illuminates the architecture. His Grandioso section is expansive and triumphant, his lyrical sections flowing and tender. The result is awe-inspiring. Fiorentino's Liszt is always satisfying, a testament to an extraordinary artist.
