Notes & Reviews:

This CD is a testimony of the extraordinary meeting between two strong artistic personalities. Danish mezzo-soprano Helene Gjerris explores six decades of vocal music by Per Nørgård (b. 1932) in new instrumentations; music which reaches the darkest corners of the human mind, loaded with intense poetry by Allen Ginsberg, Arthur Rimbaud and Pär Lagerkvist.

American Record Guide, May/June 2013
The most striking work here is Plutonium Ode. The work begins with a long recitation, spoken dramatically in clearly enunciated English, followed by a challenging recitative and aria with dramatic intervals and dynamic contrasts. The final work is a hauntingly beautiful 2012 arrangement of 'Abendlied' from Two W÷lfli Lieder for Choir of 1980, with Gjerris recording all four choral parts and Sorensen providing gamelan improvisation. If you don't know Norgard's music, this is a great place to begin.
