Notes & Reviews:

Cynthia Green Libby offers exotic oboe sounds with piano, harp and percussion with music of composers from Egypt, Wales, Vietnam, Peru and the U.S. Ms. Libby is on the faculty at Missouri State University and is principal oboe of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. She is a graduate of the Berlin Musikhochschule, the Banff Centre School, University of Michigan and Eastman.

American Record Guide, September/October 2013
There is great ambience to this music. Dr Libby is most at home in the serene works, such as Derek Limback's 'Beauty', for example, the second movement of his Ripple Effects. On the other hand, music that is clearly idiomatic for the flute. The program has a few notable high points. Dr Libby is also licensed in music therapy, so perhaps one of her objectives in making this program was therapeutic. This is probably best characterized in Do Hong Quan's piece, Four Pictures. The atmospheric nature of the gong and minimal percussion accompaniment represents a softer, more meditative musical tradition. I did find myself wishing that Quan had written this piece with prepared piano for a more Eastern or Oriental quality. Many listeners will enjoy the serene and atmospheric sounds of this music.
