Notes & Reviews:

Alessandra Artifoni began to study the harpsichord at the age of nine. It was at that early age that she became an enthusiast of early music, in particular of J. S. Bach's. This recording features a graceful performance of Bach's French Suites on an original harpsichord.

American Record Guide, September/October 2013
The instrument has a lush sound with an incisive tenor and a sweet, bell-like treble. She explains, in the liner notes, the influence of the 17th Century German lutenists and harpsichordist on Bach. Bach drew great inspiration from his musical parents and grandparents, Buxtehude, Reincken, and Pachelbel. Artifoni is an imaginative player. I enjoyed her two-against-three ornamentation in the Allemande of Suite No. 2. She makes the most of the harpsichord's expression. A high point in this release is the sarabande of Suite No. 1. Each block chord is like a hot coal to Artifoni. The piece really smolders, and she even replaces the typical down-to-up arpeggio with an up-to-down arpeggio at a key moment. This thoughtful and well-produced release is a pleasure through and through.
