Notes & Reviews:
The Penguin Guide
With its dramatic anticipations of Macbeth, the musical anticipations of Rigolettoa and the compression which (on record if not on the stage) becomes a positive merit - all these qualities, helped by a fine performance under Gardelli, make this (Philips) version of Attila an intensely enjoyable set. Rest of the cast is outstandingly good. The 1973 recording is well balanced and atmospheric.
