Notes & Reviews:

Having sung more than 40 roles, Ramon Vargas is recognized as one of the leading lyrical tenors of the present. His interpretations of Mozart, Bellini and Donizetti are celebrated throughout the world, and he's been praised as having the technical sovereignty of a "tenor di grazia" like Alfredo Kraus and the silver cover and "tears" of Fritz Wunderlich.

American Record Guide, September/October 2013
I find Vargas most effective in the two arias from Mefistofele, where he never tries for a bigger sound, but treats the arias in an almost lieder-singer manner. He sings a beautiful mezza voce passage in the aria from Cilea's Arlesiana, and he does some fine passages in Faust's 'Salut, demeure'. He does a good job on the arias from Werther and The Damnation of Faust.

Sunday Times, 9th June 2013
He sounds ripe for bigger Verdi here...The "standards" from Puccini and Cilea suggest that Vargas has the heroic heft so lacking among today's leading tenorini. If not subtle, always exciting.
