Notes & Reviews:

Pianist Alicia Zizzo has worked over the years to research, transcribe and reconstruct Gershwin's lost or forgotten classical piano music notated in his own hand. This recording includes many of these long-neglected works.

American Record Guide, November/December 2013
It is known that Chopin's Preludes were an inspiration for a planned set of 24 by Gershwin. Zizzo's interspersing of six Gershwin and Chopin preludes makes this abundantly clear. The solo piano transcription of the I Got Rhythm Variations is Zizzo's own. It and her edition of the Preludes and 'Lullaby' are published by the same publisher as most Gershwin music. Her booklet notes are detailed and informative, being the Forward for her edition of the Variations and an article on the Preludes originally published in Clavier Magazine. I missed any notes on all of the music from Gershwin's final movie score, Shall We Dance. Shall We Dance was a Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers movie, and its score was Gershwin's final major composition before he died. Liszt was the acknowledged master of this genre, and almost every composition in this genre owes a debt to him. I have mixed feelings about Zizzo's arrangement and performance of the I Got Rhythm Variations.
