Notes & Reviews:

Compositions written for Tenebrae, celebrated during the last three days of Holy Week, features among some of the most beloved music of the Renaissance period. In Italy, the golden years for Lamentazioni were during the first half of the 17th century, and many manuscripts by composers of that period were carefully preserved. On this budget priced reissue, Maria Cristina Kiehr and Concerto Soave offer a selection of music for Tenebrae written by Carissimi, Frescobaldi, Palestrina and Marcorelli.
