Notes & Reviews:

Twenty-two year old Japanese bassoonist, Rie Koyama is a sought-after soloist throughout Europe. In 2012 she won the renowned German Music Competition in Berlin, and together with Genuin, the German Music Council documents her artistic level. Koyama and the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra Pforzheim perform concertos by Mozart, Vivaldi, Jolivet and Genin so colorfully that one would think the inventor of the reed was performing these works.

American Record Guide, July/August 2014
It becomes clear from even the first few notes of Vivaldi's F-major Concerto that Ms Koyama has more than ample technical capability to craft the music for desired effects and subtleties. Her abilities become ever more apparent in Jolivet's notoriously challenging and spectacular concerto, as well as the stunning and embarrassingly technical performance of the well-known 'Carnival of Venice', originally for flute. Overall, this recording is an inspiration. It should be in the hands of every bassoonist.
