Notes & Reviews:

This is a collection of duos for violin and viola, drawn from repertoire covering about two centuries, performed by violinist Annette-Barbara Vogel and violist Daniel Sweaney. Gramophone Magazine has lauded "Vogel's perfect intonation" and Classical CD Review wrote: "Annette-Barbara Vogel is about the most ideal exponent a composer could hope for." Considered one of the finest German violinists of her generation, she is renowned for "...authoritative and highly sensitive performances" (Music Web International), and a "formidable technique, stunning musicality, and stage presence that transmits to orchestra and audience alike." (Brahms Concerto, Wuppertaler Zeitung). Daniel Sweaney made his New York debut in Avery Fisher Hall at the 1999 Mostly Mozart Festival performing with world-renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman. He has won many prizes and performed across the globe. Sweaney is currently on the faculty of the University of Alabama.

American Record Guide, March/April 2014
It's a great pleasure to have Weiner's duo in Vogel and Sweaney's gorgeous and gorgeously- recorded performance. Livelier or more expressive: which to prefer? For me it's blondes versus brunettes: I like both. Anyone who cares about chamber music for strings should check this one out.
