Notes & Reviews:

Hermann Abendroth has been called "The Other Furtwängler." The moniker is apt, as is the comparison. Abendroth was one of the greats, and although his fame has not reached the heights of Furtwängler, his artistry is no less deserving. This release features live recordings from the early 1950s made with the Warsaw Philharmonic obtained from the sound archives of the Polish Radio. The repertoire is vintage Abendroth. Included are Beethoven's Symphony No.3 and Mozart's Symphony No.40 - two towering masterworks.

Notes & Reviews:

Recording information: Varsovie (09/22/1953/05/16/1954).
