The Berlin Philharmonic Octet is the oldest chamber music ensemble associated with the orchestra. It was founded in 1928 when eight Philharmonic musicians appeared for a public performance of Schubert's Octet to mark the centenary of the composer's death. This recording celebrates the 70th anniversary of the ensemble.
