Conductor Ensemble ComposerNotes & Reviews:
Filmed at the Musikvereinssaal, Vienna in 1986, this program captures Leonard Bernstein taking on two of the most original and thrilling symphonies by Dmitri Shostkovich. Bonus material includes Leonard Bernstein's own introductions to both pieces. Bernstein commented of these works "Shostakovich's secret confession in public [Symphony no. 6]" and "...the least predictable and most surprising Ninth that exists."
