January 1, 2003 was Harnoncourt's turn to make Vienna and the whole world dance in three-four time, and his name would not be Nikolaus Harnoncourt if apart from the familiar he did not include the unusual in his programme. The New Year's concert features a number of works by Johann Strauss Sr and Jr as well as by his brother Josef, which have not been played before at any of the New Year's concerts, along with other suprises including Brahms' 'Hungarian Dances'.
