It is perhaps the most poetic of all children's books: Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. The Korean composer Unsuk Chin has clothed the tale equally fantastical music that is thoroughly modern but still accessible to everyone who loves music. Achim Freyer's direction and designs brilliantly capture the spirit of the story and of the music, while a team of singers describe by the Frankfurter Allgeemeine Zeitung as "phenomenal" positively shines in staging that exploits the director's distinctive use of masks.
