Notes & Reviews:
Mexican composer, pianist, organist, conductor and teacher Arnulfo Miramontes Romo de Vivar (1881-1960) received his musical training in Aguascalientes, Guadalajara and Berlin. His talents were recognized with numerous awards, and on the Mexican music scene he was an important and distinguished presence. Within the vast output of the composer’s piano works, the pianist Bernardo Jiménez Casillas has made for this CD a selection covering a brief but concise overview of Miramontes’ aesthetic view: his seven studies, eight pieces from his cycle of Childhood scenes and two lullabies.
