Remarks:
For the Carinthian Summer Festival, which was founded in 1969 and which is now one of Austria's leading music festivals, the present concert has a positively historic significance: this was the first live TV broadcast in the festival's history and was filmed at the famous Abbey Church at Ossiach whose beautiful Baroque design dates from the middle of the 18th century. But for the music lover, the concert is worth treasuring for musical reasons too, featuring, as it does, the young Claudio Abbado conducting a performance of Pergolesi's Stabat mater with two of Italy's leading singers of their generation. The rest of the programme comprises two magnificent examples of Vivaldi's "concerti con titoli".Notes:
