Notes & Reviews:
The LA Philharmonic celebrated the second season with Music Director Gustavo Dudamel with this opening night concert, Celebracion'. The gala concert featured another Latin American artist, tenor Juan Diego Florez. The concert was broadcast nationally on NPR and was taped for a PBS broadcast this December. The program includes a first half of bel canto favorites with both overtures and bravura arias as performed by Florez. The second half features the music of Latin America in both song and orchestral works including the popular song, Granada. The video includes back stage footage and interviews with the artists.
"Flórez sang splendidly... his Rossini with Dudamel was all class... Dudamel brought out wonderful instrumental details. The orchestra sparkled."-Los Angeles Times
