Album Summary
Performers Conductor Ensemble ComposerNotes & Reviews:
Turandot has a special place among Puccini's works as the opera which most incorporates the changing sounds of the composer's time, filled with Puccini's inspired melodies set off by a new sense of imaginative tonality and subtle instrumentation. A stellar cast with soprano Luana DeVol as the titular centerpiece makes for a lush interpretation of this eternal favorite. Director Núria Espert retained the lavish sets traditionally favored for the opera, and orients the work to the doubts that Puccini himself expressed about the final scene, utilizing the oft-maligned alternate ending.
