Semi awake, Semi-dream features music of Fernando Sor, Francisco Tárrega, Aleksandr Borodín, Stepán Rak Rak (b. 1945), Anatoli Liádov and Sergey Rudnev (b. 1955).

American Record Guide, March/April 2016
Mr Mamedkuliev's latest laurel is the first prize in the Francisco Tarrega Competition he has many others. The recital here has high artistic values. His playing is technically secure, tasteful, and deeply expressive.

The high points are the Sor sonata, Op. 22, and his transcription of excerpts from Borodin's Little Suite, a wonderful addition to the guitar repertory. The Sor is a huge work, over 20 minutes (he doesn't take any of the repeats), and is the closest we have to an early Beethoven sonata, particularly in the profoundly expressive Adagio. This performance has even more sparkle than Adam Holzman's fine old recording on Naxos. Each of the other pieces is played just as beautifully.
