Notes & Reviews:
Ironically, Schonberg's still-tonal Verklarte Nacht went on to become the most famous, even "signature" work, of the inventor of serial atonality. Capitalizing on its success, Schonberg arranged the Sextet for string orchestra in 1917 (revised 1943), although it is the original Sextet version which is recorded here. Both performances and Nimbus' sound quality are excellent.
