Notes & Reviews:

Like most brass recordings, this one contains no works originally intended for modern brass instruments - what is unusual about this collection is that none of the works (with the exception of the Bach) was written for any specific instrument. The centerpiece is Phil Snedecor's version for large brass ensemble of Respighi's famous orchestral suite of "Ancient Airs and Dances," themselves transcriptions of pieces originally for lute.
