Notes & Reviews:
Rumors of a Third Symphony by Edward Elgar had circulated for years following the composer's death. The sketches were finally found and realized by the British musicologist and composer, Anthony Payne. Naxos presents a new recording of Payne's performing edition of the symphony performed by those acclaimed champions of British music, Paul Daniel and the Bournemouth Symphony. This was a Marach 2000 "Editor's Choice" from Gramophone magazine, and "An issue abosolutely not to be missed."
