There's a wide world to be traversed inside this squeezebox. Guy Klucevsek is new music's ambassador of the accordion, as a performer, composer and commissioner of a wide variety of works whose intentions range from the rigorous to the amusing. That range is displayed here, from the striking astrophysical abstraction of Lois Vierk's 'Blue Jets Red Sprites' and the world peace mission of Aaron Kernis' 'Hymn' to the (literally) howling effervescence of Jerome Kitzke's 'Breath and Bone' and the off-the-wall campiness of Burt Bacharach's title song for the b-movie classic 'The Blob.' More reflective moods are found in the droning 'Recitative' of Somie Satoh and Klucevsek's own set of winsome miniatures, 'Three of a Kind.'
