Notes & Reviews:
Myung-Whun Chung has proven to be a great Messiaen interpreter, with an impressive Messiaen discography on DG, and having had the opportunity to work with the composer himself. Mr. Chung plays the piano in this performance of Messaien's most famous work, the Quartet for the End of Time. The booklet features a moving interview with cellist Etienne Pasquier, who belonged to the ensemble that first performed the work in a prisoner-of-war camp near Gorlitz in Germany.
