The catalog of works by the German composer Heinrich von Herzogenberg has been growing steadily lately, with contributions from the cpo and Naxos labels. This remains, however, the only available versions of these enjoyable piano trios. Herzogenberg was a great admirer of Brahms, and this admiration shows in these well crafted trios. If not on the lever of Brahms, this music still will be a pleasant diversion for those drawn to late romantic chamber works.
