Album Summary
Conductor Ensemble ComposerNotes & Reviews:
There are several choices in the catalog for Louis Spohr's Nonet, which is beautifully played by Ensemble Villa Musica. The other two works on the album are less frequently heard. The Quartet-Concerto, Op. 131 is a virtuosic piece for string quartet accompanied by orchestra, in the manner of Robert Schumann's Konzertstucke for horn quartet and orchestra. The program kicks off with a brief and rousing overture. Everything is beautifully performed and recorded.
