This new Naxos release includes three highly typical but less well-known orchestral works by Rodrigo, the most substantial of which is the 1953 Suite for Orchestra, 'Soleriana". Based on the "Fandango" by Padre Antonio Soler, the work is divided into an introduction and seven differentias (variations); and, like Rodrigo's more familiar works, it is tremendously evocative of the atmosphere of Spain.
