"This set preserves a staged performance of Puccini's last opera from October 2001 in Madrid. The chorus is from Bilbao and the orchestra from Malaga, a Spanish province on the Mediterranean coast. Both seem undersized for this work, but they sing and play with noticeable enthusiasm. Maestro Rhabari does a fine job keeping his forces together without dragging tempos, and he is considerate, as are the recording engineers, to his sometimes hard-pressed singers." - Moses, ARG
