Pizzetti: Assassinio nella Cattedrale / Gavazzeni, Gencer

Notes & Reviews:

Pizzetti, successor to Respighi at the St. Cecilia Academy in Rome, wrote in a style reminiscent both of the Impressionists and of late Reniaissance or early Baroque vocal music. His setting of T.S. Eliot's verse drama 'Murder in the Cathedral' is the best known of his 19 operas. This is a live performance in Milan, 1958.
