Naxos' Chill with Rachmaninoff presents 12 of the composer's most relaxing compositions, including Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor: Adagio Sostenuto, Morceaux de Salon, Op. 10: Barcarolle in G Minor, Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini: Variation 18, and Vocalise in E Minor, Op. 34, No. 14. While the album's concept is simple, it features a good sampling from Rachmaninov's major works and alternates between large and small-scale compositions, all of which give the album an unexpected amount of depth and diversity. Sonata in G Minor for Cello and Piano, Op. 19: Andante and Mélodie in E, Op. 3, No. 3 are among the other highlights of this collection. It may not be the only Rachmaninov collection you'll ever need, but Chill with Rachmaninoff is still a pleasant and soothing one to have around. ~ Heather Phares
