Notes & Reviews:
John Frandsen has a special feeling for finely wrought vocal melody that has resulted in seven operas including the grand opera I-K-O-N, commissioned and premiered in 2003 by the Royal Opera in Copenhagen. Delicacy and refinement permeate his compositions, which evoke echoes of late Romanticism. But behind the lyricism and the immediate appeal of the music lies a tight structure.
