Notes & Reviews:

The success of Beethoven's pupil Ferdinand Ries during his own lifetime was founded on both his extremely popular symphonic compositions and his chamber music compositions. Ries composed his 'Octet, Op. 128' in 1816, during a time when he already enjoyed great renown as a composer.
