Born in Tel Aviv in 1924 Pnina Salzman, known as the 'First Lady of the Piano', studied with both Cortot and Tagliafero at the Paris Conservatory. She has had a long association with the Israel Philharmonic, and was the first Israeli pianist invited to perform in both Russian and China.
