Notes & Reviews:
Much of Thomson's early music, which comprises setting of Stein's poetry and the 'Synthetic Waltzes', balances modernity and classicism, and the 'Sonata for Violin & Piano' is a portent of the neo-romanticism that would later spread though Paris. His later compositions, bursting with lyricism, include his glorious setting of Thomas Campion's poetry and the two contrasting vocal works of 1963 that conclude this program.
