American Classics - Schuman: Symphonies no 7 & 10 / Schwarz

Album Summary

>Schuman, William : Symphony no 7
>Schuman, William : Symphony no 10 -- American Muse
Conductor Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

This is the second release in the new Naxos series dedicated to the complete Symphonies of William Schuman. Dating from 1960 and 1976 respectively, Schumans Seventh and Tenth Symphonies were commissioned for and inspired by two anniversaries, the 75th season of the Boston Symphony and the bicentennial celebration of the United States. Given the composers long connection with the city of Boston and his important work in creating an American symphonic sound, these symphonies are striking products of Schumans musical roots. Gerard Schwarz and the Seattle Symphony do full justice to all his (Schumans) virtues in a recording that earns the highest possible recommendation. - The Washington Post (on Schuman: Symphonies Nos. 4 and 9 Naxos 8559254)
