Notes & Reviews:

This live recording is Riccardo Chaillys first concert as Music Director of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. Opening night in Leipzig is a tradition that includes Mendelssohns Second Symphony with its celebratory choral last movement. This year, it will be performed in a new edition - along with the ever-popular Overture to A Midsummer Nights Dream. Outstanding vocal soloists including Anne Schwanewilms and Peter Seiffert.
