This CD is a natural follow-up to the Boston Cameratas popular Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, American, and French Christmas CDs that are holiday best sellers. On this new release the ensemble has not limited their choice of music to one century, nor to just the early music repertoire. The repertoire here spans seven centuries (12th to the 19th) and offers a wide and diverse range of compositions - including those drawn from medieval manuscripts and music taken from the Mediterranean folklore and oral traditions.

A Mediterranean Christmas is the latest recording for Warner Classics by The Boston Camerata, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2004-2005 with major events in Boston and Paris. They are led by Joel Cohen, a leading authority on medieval and renaissance musical performance, who has directed the ensemble's teaching, research, recording and concert activities since 1968.
