Notes & Reviews:
Giacomo Puccini, "Sr." (1712-1781) was not the father, but the great-great-grandfather of the famous opera composer, and the founder of a line of prominent musicians that stretched over 200 years. The eldest Puccini's baroque sacred music has had a most enthusiastic reception after being revived just a few years ago. His story, a fascinating one, is told in detail in the album notes. The vocal soloists on the CD are all highly experienced particularly in music of the Baroque period, performing in early music ensembles and participating in acclaimed recordings.
